We are an A Level Exam Centre
We strongly believe that A levels and other exams should be at the forefront of secondary education, with as little coursework as possible. Focused on the linear approach to A levels, we believe in the opportunity to take A levels as many times as necessary, reducing the cliff-edge relationship with university entrance.
With A levels, the idea that you have to be dragged through pointless mini-exams, i.e., a modular effort, makes for a miserable sixth form experience. In contrast, a final set of exams, i.e., the linear format, provides a crescendo of learning.
The structure of three A levels in a sitting for university entrance, is something we should demonstrate against.
The idea that you cannot retake your linear exams and be considered for the same course provides a disadvantage to students from schools with fewer resources. However, if one took 3 A levels over 2 or three years, with a retake of one of them in the second year, this gives more time for suitable university choices and the opportunity to run other learning at the same time, e.g., a pre-university course such as pre-med or pre-engineering.
Here at the A level exam centre we give parents and candidates the choice to sit exams when they want to. Not when the school or college can provide them with an opportunity. So in our small way giving choice and a chance to enact our vision.
